Pillow systems come in all shapes and sizes. Blowing lines can use a single
nozzle, double nozzles, or up to six nozzles. Garnetted pillow lines can have a
single stuffer or double stuffers.
Production rates largely depend on the size pillow or tick being blown or
stuffed. A system blowing small decorative pillows will have a lower production
rate per nozzle than a system blowing bed pillows. Bed pillow production per
nozzle may even be less than furniture back production. These differences occur
because of the lag time between taking one tick off of the nozzle and putting
the next tick on the nozzle and pressing the foot switch. Smaller decorative
pillows will fill faster than larger pillows, but there will be a higher ratio
of time between pillows than when blowing a larger tick.
Of course other factors are involved in calculating production rates.
Maintenance time, clean up, breaks, product style (pillow size) switches, type
of fiber and degree of opening required, and experience of the operator all
contribute to the overall production rate that can be expected from a pillow
system.
With all of these factors considered we offer some figures that we have
experienced in the field over many years with our machinery.
